Today was one of those days that reminds us what community is all about. ❤️

Thanks to an incredible partnership with Second Chances Garage and the support of IMPACT Club, we were able to help Dawn, one of our Transitional Housing participants, receive a vehicle of her own.

Reliable transportation opens doors to employment, childcare, healthcare appointments, grocery shopping, and so much more. It’s more than a car - it’s a pathway to stability, independence, and opportunity.

To make the day even more special, Dawn also received a $100 gas card, provided through the Women’s Giving Circle, to help her get started on this new journey.

A moment like this doesn’t happen because of one person - it takes a team. We want to recognize our incredible case managers, business manager, property manager, and executive director who work tirelessly behind the scenes every day to help families overcome barriers and achieve long-term success.

Their dedication, advocacy, and compassion make stories like Dawn’s possible.

Some people come into our lives and leave a mark that can never be measured by time.

Aline, thank you for being exactly what Advocates for Homeless Families needed, exactly when we needed it. Your compassion, dedication, and heart for the families we serve have made an incredible impact - not only on our organization, but on our entire community. You brought hope, encouragement, and unwavering support to so many, and your presence will be deeply missed.

While we're sad to see you go, we are beyond grateful that our paths crossed. Thank you for sharing your gifts, your passion, and your kindness with us.

Today we attended the Nonprofit Summit!

While we listened and learned from the panelists and keynote speaker, one message from Betsy Day of the Community Foundation of Frederick County that stuck with us was the reminder to “allow the force within ourselves”.

At Advocates for Homeless Families, that means continuing to show up, advocate, and create opportunities for families working toward stable housing.

Today, Advocates for Homeless Families joined so many incredible nonprofit organizations at the Women’s Giving Circle to share how this generous grant will make a real difference in our organization.

It was an inspiring afternoon of collaboration, storytelling, and impact as organizations discussed the specific needs these funds will help address and the lives that will be changed because of this support.

We are grateful to be part of a community that believes in investing in people, strengthening families, and creating lasting change.

As part of the Frederick Housing Solutions Task Force, we know that some of the best solutions come from listening to the people doing the work every day.

If you own 1–5 rental units in Frederick County, we invite you to join us on June 10 from 6:00–7:30 PM at the FCAR Offices (490 Monocacy Blvd.) for a small landlord roundtable discussion.

This conversation is designed to hear directly from local landlords about rental practices, tenant screening, market challenges, and opportunities to improve housing solutions throughout our community. There’s no sales pitch and no obligation - just an opportunity to share your experiences and help shape future housing efforts in Frederick County.

We’ll also provide pizza and soft drinks as a thank-you for your time.

Your perspective matters, and we hope you’ll pull up a chair and join the conversation.

Again, thank you to everyone who came out for the Waterboyz for Jesus project and helped rehab a property that will serve families working toward stable housing. Every brush stroke, repair, and act of service helped create a safe, welcoming place for families to call home.

Haven’t you ever needed a little help sometimes?

For many families in our community, that moment is now.

We work every day to help families move from crisis to stability with shelter, support, resources, and hope. Sometimes all it takes is someone willing to step in during a difficult season.

Because everyone deserves the chance to feel safe, supported, and at home. ❤️

There’s something really special about moments like this. ❤️

One of the children in our transitional housing program, originally from Angola, proudly performed alongside her dad at her school’s International Night — and just look at those smiles. 🥰

These are the moments that remind us what stability, support, and community can create. Confidence. Joy. Connection. A chance for families to heal, grow, and celebrate who they are together.
