Maryland Forward Party

Maryland Forward Party Different by design, Maryland Forward Party is focused on local priorities.

As the future “moderating party" in Maryland, we blend fair-voting reform, local community advocacy, and cross-partisan evaluation of candidates and legislation.

⁉️ You might have heard us talking all about closed primaries. What are we doing to help open them up?

Maryland Forward Party is fighting for reform by:
📢 Advocating for bills during the legislative session
🗳️ Collaborating with legislators and candidates from all sides of the political spectrum
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Working in coalition with partner organizations to build momentum
🧑‍💻 Teaching voters about the importance of election reforms like opening primaries

➡️ We're building something new in Maryland so that political parties can work for the people not for the powerful. We need your help!

We're actively looking for volunteers to help us support our endorsed candidates, get the word out about Forward, and build our momentum as we move toward party status here in Maryland.

Maryland Forward Party is excited to endorse Heidi Schmidt, a dedicated community leader, mom, and small business owner from Pasadena. Heidi believes that government can be a force for good when we prioritize people over partisanship and focus on collaborative problem-solving. As a first-generation college graduate who built her own business, she understands the challenges facing working families across our state.

She is committed to bottom-up governance and finding practical solutions that work for everyday Marylanders. Heidi aims to tackle several key issues:
- Supporting the growth of small businesses, especially those started by women.
- Promoting educational equity to ensure all students, particularly in special education, can thrive.
- Protecting our natural resources and planning for climate-resilient communities.
- Making Maryland more affordable by exploring ways to increase housing access without burdening infrastructure.
- Expanding childcare access by proposing public-private partnership models that scale fees without overburdening taxpayers.

Stronger communities are built when leaders work hand-in-hand with the people they serve.

Maryland Forward Party is proud to endorse Megan Outten for Wicomico County Council District 7. As a former Salisbury City Councilwoman, she understands that local challenges require pragmatic, bottom-up solutions rather than partisan fighting.

Megan's campaign highlights the need to connect local governance with everyday Marylanders. Her platform focuses on addressing essential community needs by:
- Aiming to increase per-pupil funding to keep pace with other Maryland counties.
- Advocating for proactive, community-first infrastructure planning.
- Proposing diverse housing options for seniors, young professionals, and working families.
- Prioritizing clean water initiatives and expanding mental health and recovery services.
