Maryland Forward Party is proud to endorse Jennifer Clancy for Maryland State Delegate in District 29A. As a licensed therapist, former public school counselor, mother of five, and wife to a law enforcement officer, she brings a practical, grassroots perspective to Southern Maryland.

Jennifer's community-driven campaign aims to address key issues affecting families across Maryland:
- Advocating for fully funded universal pre-K and universal school meals to support student success.
- Prioritizing expanded healthcare access in rural areas, including mental health, pediatric, and specialized women's health services.
- Proposing fair, data-based tax reform designed to support working families.
- Recommending studies to align minimum wage standards with the local cost of living.

Marylanders across our state are looking for leaders who put people over party politics. Learn more about Jennifer and how to get involved in her campaign at: https://marylandforwardparty.com/endorsed/jennifer-clancy

We need ethical, transparent leaders at all levels of government who put people first. That is why Maryland Forward Party is proud to endorse Chuck Borges for State Senate in District 29!

Chuck served nearly 23 years in the US Navy, was decorated for valor in Combat in Iraq, and later worked as a civil servant in federal technology where he famously stood up as a whistleblower to protect public data.

Now, he wants to bring that same commitment to integrity and problem-solving to Annapolis for Southern Maryland families. His key platform priorities include:

- Protecting natural resources and fostering practical economic innovation

- Supporting small businesses to diversify the local economy away from a single federal employer

- Addressing housing affordability through options like infill development, modular housing, and ADUs

- Championing family support, such as universal school lunches and improved public school funding allocations

Maryland thrives when our local government focuses on practical solutions, accountability, and results instead of partisan agendas.

That is why Maryland Forward Party is proud to endorse Les McIntosh for Washington County Commissioner. A local small business owner and community leader, Les has spent years bringing people together through his leadership with the Hagerstown Area Religious Council and the Washington County NAACP. He aims to bring that same collaborative mindset to county governance.

His platform focuses on key community priorities:
- Increasing housing supply and options for seniors, working families, and people with disabilities
- Expanding transit routes and evening service to connect Hagerstown with rural communities
- Prioritizing responsible county spending while opposing unnecessary tax increases

Maryland voters get to decide the future of our congressional maps this November. The General Assembly recently passed House Bill 2100, placing a state constitutional amendment directly on your ballot for November 3.

Before you cast your vote, it is important to understand what HB2100 changes!

If approved, the measure would remove long-standing state constitutional protections for congressional districts, such as compactness and respecting local subdivision boundaries, defaulting strictly to federal rules.

This gives politicians already in power the ability to draw district lines with minimal court oversight and escalates a national partisan arms race that prioritizes party survival over voter choice.

Both major political parties participate in this system, using gerrymandering to pick their voters instead of letting voters choose their representatives. Maryland Forward Party believes we must end this race to the bottom.

Instead of stripping away constitutional guardrails, Maryland should establish an Independent Redistricting Commission so everyday citizens draw fair maps.

Vote NO on HB2100 on November 3.

What steps will you take to ensure fair elections in your community? Let us know in the comments!

As we reflect on the 2026 Primary Election, we are celebrating an impactful campaign with Steven Messmer, who ran for State Senator in District 40. His run brought an important focus to voter outreach and highlighted the need to challenge established political dynamics.

- Most Memorable Moment: Reaching voters directly with open dialogue, meeting residents across District 40 who were eager to discuss real community solutions.

- Lessons Learned: Facing the challenge of loyalty politics, demonstrating how entrenched major-party dynamics often create the largest barriers to meaningful reform.

- Up Next: Expanding his service as his family recently became certified to do foster care, while continuing his work at a legal nonprofit and focusing on legislative advocacy.

Steven shows that bringing practical, independent solutions to state politics is a continuous journey. How do you think Maryland can best break down barriers for non-traditional and reform-minded candidates?

Last week State Democrats in Annapolis voted in favor of a State Constitutional Amendment, to make gerrymandering easier and harder to challenge in the future. We and our partners, Lyon for Delegate Kevin Hornberger 🇺🇸 , are pushing back against this dangerous bill. We recommend that Maryland Voters vote NO to this ballot measure, on November 3, and instead advocate for other solutions such as commissions.
