Please do not place the items identified in Steve's Sanitation's latest post in your garbage bin.
Many of these items contain lithium-ion batteries, which can be damaged or crushed during collection and processing. When this happens, batteries can overheat and catch fire, creating a serious safety risk for sanitation workers, equipment, and our community.
Please take a moment to review the list and dispose of these items properly. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our community safe and protect those who work hard to collect and process our waste.

Your garbage truck is NOT a recycling center for your old v**es. It's also not a retirement home for dead power banks, ancient cell phones, or that e-cigarette you swore you quit. π
Lithium batteries are hiding in 35+ everyday items and when they get crushed inside a garbage truck, they don't just die quietly. They go out in a BLAZE of glory. Literally. π₯
It's called thermal runaway and it is exactly as dramatic as it sounds.
