The City of Fraser is excited to note that Sunday, May 17-Saturday, May 23, 2026 is National Public Works Week!
As such, Mayor Michael Lesich was equally glad to sign the National Public Works Week proclamation on Thursday, May 14. This proclamation recognizes the important work that not only Fraser Department of Public Works (DPW) staff does throughout the year, but also the labor performed by DPW staff across the United States.
This year's theme, "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” demonstrates that the roots of public service run deep in DPW professionals. While some of their work is highly visible, much of it isn't. Whether seen or unseen, DPW work forms the foundation of our community, helping it to thrive, strengthening the connection between city services and the residents and businesses that use these daily.
The City of Fraser is grateful for the work - carrried out in every season and weather condition Michigan offers - done by our DPW staff, which is vital to sustainable and resilient communities and to public health, high quality of life, and the well-being of its residents.
With National Public Works Week now in its 66th year, the City of Fraser encourages all residents and business owners to join with representatives of the American Public Works Association and government agencies in activities, events, and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers, managers, and employees, and to recognize the substantial contributions they make to protecting our national health and safety and advancing quality of life for all.
Thank you, Fraser DPW! We appreciate all that you do!
