Greg Alexander will be speaking at the upcoming Book Fest:
Gregory Alexander was born and raised in New Orleans. He attended the University of New Orleans, where he earned degrees in Psychology and American Literature, both of which disciplines he drew on to write The Holy Mark. He taught English at several Catholic schools in the city, which also contributed to his writing. His short stories, including the genesis of The Holy Mark, have appeared in independent and academically connected literary magazines across the country. Mr. Alexander has been a contributing book reviewer for the New Orleans Times Picayune. He currently works as a Human Resource Professional in Jefferson Parish. In 2004 Greg became a proud Washington Parish property owner when he purchased three acres in beautiful Pine! He hopes to build a home there when he retires.
Synopsis for The Holy Mark: Father Tony probably should have never been a priest. With his family’s money, courtesy of ties to the New Orleans mob, he could have pursued his interest in literature or even worked with young boys—only free of all those silly Church strictures. But there was no priest in the Miggliore family, much to the shame of his immigrant Italian grandmother. So at his birth, when the old woman beheld a peculiar mark on his head and declared it to be a sign from God—a “segno sacro” in the only language she knew—this grandson’s destiny was set.

Shane Finkelstein grew up in Valley Stream, Long Island and majored in English at the University of Maryland. After college, he moved to Atlanta and published a magazine called University Reporter, which subsequently became INsite Magazine. After nine years in Atlanta, he met his soon to be wife Courtney and they travelled around the world in Y2K. Returning to the states, Shane and Courtney moved to New Orleans and opened five restaurants over the next decade. During his time in the Big Easy, Shane wrote articles for INsite Magazine, Where Yat Magazine and the New Orleans Levee. Finding Gordon Lipschitz is his first full-length novel. He currently resides in Uptown New Orleans, has three children and is working on his first screenplay.

At his twenty five year high school reunion, Harris Greenberg finds out that his class valedictorian has gone missing. In an attempt to run away from his own problems, Harris embarks on a desperate mission to find him. Enlisting the help of old friends, Gordon Lipschitz is found in the most unlikely place, a shell of his former self. The search becomes a journey of self-discovery for four friends whose lives turned out much differently than any of them expected.
