I have refrained from answering any negative comments on here and will still continue to do that.
I would like to share some of the qualifications that I feel will benefit me as a voting member of the fiscal court as west district magistrate.
First and foremost, I believe in God and his supreme leadership. I believe in the power of prayer and that it affects the way we see things if we will listen to it. I’ve been in the ministry for over 40 years, most of which has been on the mission field or in evangelistic work. I have tried to follow God and his direction throughout all aspects of my life. I’m not a perfect man and sometimes I falter from that. We’re all human and make mistakes.
Second, I spent my career as a salesman and retired from Hutson Inc, the local John Deere dealer. I was responsible for putting bids together, so I understand the dynamics well. Most all of the bids or quotes I did were very close margins that required making sure every “I” was dotted and every “T” was crossed. Paying attention to detail is imperative when working with budgets, bids as well as other aspects. I dealt with farmers who work very narrow margins in their budgets. I dealt with angry customers, happy customers and customers that were frustrated with how to make the numbers profitable for them, not just to close a deal.
Third, I am a farmer. My wife and I own land in Simpson county. In 2020 my daughter started raising pinto beans for an FFA project that we have turned into a small growing business. How does that help our community? We’re the only ones that we know of to raise dried edible beans in the southeastern U.S. that we know of. We’ve dealt with learning how to grow them in our climate, we’ve dealt with marketing, we’ve dealt with research, we’ve dealt with getting them on the crop list through the FSA office in order to secure crop insurance, we’re currently working with the KDA to establish guidelines for safe foods for dried beans, we’ve worked with grant proposals through the KDA and USDA as well. By working with the KDA and KYProud, it is our goal to eventually add another sustainable crop to our community as well as the commonwealth.
Fourth, I care about this community and what happens to it. I do believe that an open and honest communication with those that I serve is vital in maintaining a healthy relationship with anyone whether it be family, friends, customers or members of our community. I do not believe in an elected official should ever sign and NDA that dictates secrecy of information to the community. I do understand there are certain areas of the fiscal court regarding personnel issues that most protect the privacy of employees too.
I would be honored to serve the west district of Simpson County as your next magistrate.
PS- I do not use AI for writing post. I cannot in good conscience use something to ask for your vote that I stand firmly with the people of Simpson County against.
