Help reduce our workload and make a difference by saving a life! The Johnson County Health Department, Johnson County Emergency Communications and Upstream Prevention launched PulsePoint today!

PulsePoint Respond is an app designed to support public safety agencies working to improve cardiac arrest survival rates through improved bystander performance and active citizenship.

PulsePoint Respond empowers everyday citizens to provide lifesaving assistance to victims of sudden cardiac arrest.

Application users who have indicated they are trained in CPR and willing to assist in case of an emergency can now be notified if someone nearby is having a cardiac emergency and may require CPR. If the cardiac emergency is in a public place, the location-aware application will alert trained citizens in the vicinity of the need for bystander CPR simultaneous with the dispatch of our crews to the medical emergency. The application also directs these citizen rescuers to the exact location of the closest publicly accessible

Automated External Defibrillator (AED). User notification only occurs after the 9-1-1 system has been activated.

You can download the app in either the Apple App Store or on Google Play by simply searching for “PulsePoint”.

We believe PulsePoint will be a powerful tool in our efforts to increase survival rates in our community. In addition to the lifesaving CPR notifications, the application provides a filtered virtual window into our emergency communication center.

For the citizen responders, it will help keep them aware and give opportunities to intervene when situations occur in public spaces saving lives either way!

Su***de Overdose Fatality Review today for our Johnson County cases. Su***de and Overdose Fatality Review (SOFR) teams work to prevent future su***de and overdose deaths by conducting a series of confidential case reviews, determining contributing risk factors and circumstances, identifying opportunities for system improvement, and recommending policies, practices, and programs for prevention.

Upstream has launched the link for our Memory Rock Wall! Inspired by the photo in the flyer below, Upstream is planning to have an outdoor installation at our new space with flowers, a CALM Bench, and a Rock Wall with rocks dedicated in honor or in memory of someone - and we need your help!

Each rock in the wall can be purchased and decorated in memory or honor of your loved one. Decorate one side (if you wish) to help us produce a colorful display, while the other side will stay plain in memory and recognition of all those we’ve lost and the community. All purchases for this Rock Wall will go to our Campaign, where all funds are currently being matched $1 for $1 by the Johnson County Community Foundation's Capital and Capacity Building Grant, thanks to funding from The Lily Endowment. Any additional donations made in this form will also go toward the matching challenge for our Campaign.

Meet Beth, an Indiana Donor Network advocate. Here is her story:

"I received a new pancreas on June 7, 2008, after 20+ years of uncontrollable diabetes. Thanks to my donor hero, Angelica, who gave me a second chance that day, I can now live a normal life, enjoy my grandkids and spend time with my family and friends. I have also been part of the Youth Ed Team and have volunteered and given back to Donate Life Indiana for over 14 years."
