We're Poplar Grove: A Song That Tells Our Story
Every school has a story. At Poplar Grove, ours is a story of community, belonging, and Pride. Now, for the first time, that story has its own soundtrack.
We are thrilled to introduce “We’re Poplar Grove,” our brand-new school song, a musical celebration of who we are and what it means to be part of the Poplar Grove family.
The song was brought to life through an incredible collaboration of professional musicians, talented students, and members of our school community. Written and arranged by renowned songwriter and arranger David T. Clydesdale and produced by Greg Collins (both multiple Grammy award winners), the song was recorded at The Loft Studio.
And perhaps the most special part? The voices you hear singing it are the voices of our students.
Our student singers include: Penelope Woodruff, Angelo Pena, Teddy and Lucy Collins, Reed Samuels, Rhett and Charlie Garrett, and Lainey Camperlino.
Hearing our students' voices woven throughout the song makes it much more than a school anthem. It makes it ours.
You may already have heard “We Are Poplar Grove” without even realizing it. The song plays regularly when families and visitors call PGS and are placed on hold. It will also be used on special occasions as we welcome students and visitors into our school and because it belongs to the entire Poplar Grove community, soon you’ll be able to listen anytime by searching “We’re Poplar Grove” on your favorite music streaming services. Until then you can hear the song by clicking the link at the end of this post.
The creation of this song was a labor of love, and we are incredibly grateful to the people who made it possible. A very special thank-you goes to Greg Collins and David T. Clydesdale for sharing their incredible talents and making this vision a reality. Huge thanks to studio ringers Celeste Clydesdale and Mia Jones. We are also deeply thankful to Courtney Garrett, whose organization and coordination brought together the people, places, and details necessary to make the recording happen.
Most importantly, we are grateful to the students who lent their voices to represent who we are and our mission of Learning for All. No Exceptions.
A school song is something that can outlive a school year, a graduating class, or even a generation. We hope that “We’re Poplar Grove” becomes part of our school soundtrack for generations to come and serves as the background music to our fondest school memories.
When we hear those words, we are reminded of something special: We are Poplar Grove.
