Tip on signing titles as a seller: please DO NOT sign any title as a seller without being in the presence of a notary! Any titled owners listed on the front of a PA title must sign in the presence of a notary. PA has very strict rules on sellers signatures, so before selling a titled asset please call me to ensure you are handling things correctly to meet the state rules and procedures! If a title is signed incorrectly this will lead to additional cost to obtain a duplicate title and have that duplicate correctly signed. I offer online notarization services for sellers or buyers who are not present in PA--call for details!!

Tip: Now that spring has sprung and you may be looking at buying a boat and trailer or a side by side or a slick convertible or coupe keep these in mind to avoid problems when titling and registering in PA:

1. The seller must provide you with clear proof of ownership in their name. What this means is the person you are dealing with should have their name printed on the front of the title or transferable registration card. Items purchased OOS (out of state) may have registration cards only. For example trailers campers and the like may only have a registration card OOS. Please please please do not buy items that don't have solid proof of ownership as this would require getting the seller to obtain proof of ownership from their state first before we can proceed to title and register in PA for you.

2. Get a bill of sale that lists the year make, VIN that is signed and dated by the seller. For boats and trailers the bill of sale should be broken down as a price for the boat and motor; then a separate price for the trailer. For example: boat and trailer is sold for $2000, split up is $1500 for boat/motor and $500 for the trailer. Check the FAQs for more details or give me a call.

Another example is if you are buying an item at a public auction or from a pawn shop, you make sure there is solid proof of ownership from the seller. Check FAQs or call for full details BEFORE buying the item! If the person you are dealing with is not the titled or registered owner best advice is to have the seller obtain solid proof of ownership before buying!
