Davis House Child Advocacy Center

Davis House Child Advocacy Center Davis House Child Advocacy Center serves as a first responder in cases of alleged child abuse in Williamson County, TN.

Davis House Child Advocacy Center opened in September 2000 to provide a safe, child-friendly place for children to tell their story and receive healing services. Davis House served 530 children from our four county service area in FY20. The mission of Davis House is to provide investigative, advocacy, family support, and therapeutic services to children who have experienced sexual or significant physical abuse or some other traumatic event, as well as trauma informed community education, designed to guide our towns and civic spaces to be safer and more resilient for everyone. Child abuse does not just affect the child. Once disclosure is made, the entire family is in crisis. Our dual goal: to treat the child and the family as they heal from the trauma of abuse; and to educate caregivers and our collaborative partners in order to better protect children.

One little boy changed the way Williamson County responded to child abuse. His story showed our community that children deserved a place where they could feel safe, be heard and know they were not in trouble.

That moment became Davis House Child Advocacy Center. And over 26 hears and more than 10,000 children later, it continues to guide everything we do. 💙

We are feeling incredibly supported by our community this week. ❤️

Thank you to WSMV 4, Nashville and Brendan Tierney for taking the time to visit Davis House and help tell this story.

While this may be an HVAC issue on paper, for us, it is about much more than air conditioning. It is about making sure a child walking through our doors has a safe, comfortable place to tell their story. It is about families having somewhere to sit while they wait. And it is about our team being able to continue providing critical services when children need us.

We are so grateful for the calls, messages, connections, shares and offers of support we have already received. This community continues to remind us that we do not do this work alone.

Thank you for helping our story reach even more people. ❤️

When a child needs Davis House, we need to be ready. 🤍

⚠️ Three of our five HVAC units have failed, including those serving the spaces where children come to tell their stories, families receive support and healing begins. With temperatures inside some rooms reaching more than 8️⃣0️⃣ degrees, this is a need we cannot put off.

We are incredibly grateful to the amazing crew at the Williamson Herald for helping share this urgent need with our community, and to everyone who has already reached out, donated or offered to help!

Davis House has always been a community effort. Right now, we need that community beside us.

There are several ways you can help: share this post, connect us with local resources or make a financial contribution to help us repair and replace these critical units.

Dolly Parton believed deeply in the power of a book to change a child’s life. And that is a legacy that feels especially meaningful to us at Davis House. 💗

Dolly called Williamson County home, and it’s the same community Davis House is so honored to serve. Her belief in investing in children and giving them opportunities to learn, grow, and dream is one that resonates deeply with our mission.

Books can give children the words to understand boundaries, recognize when something doesn’t feel right, and find the courage to speak up. At Davis House, we provide free books to children and families as another tool for education, prevention, and healing.

As our community remembers Dolly, we’re grateful for the extraordinary legacy she leaves behind. Her story may have ended, but the pages she helped open for generations of children will keep turning. 🦋💗
