A huge thank you to Aarav for building a new turtle basking platform at Peacock Hill Nature Park as his Eagle Scout Project! 🐢

The park's pond is home to many turtles, and having a safe place to climb out of the water and soak up the sun is essential for their health. Next time you visit Peacock Hill, stop by the pond and see if you can spot the turtles enjoying their new basking platform!

Fall is around the corner, and we will soon be saying "see ya later!" to our beloved warbler species, like this Blackburnian Warbler, as they head south to their wintering grounds. You can help them out on their long journey by making sure outdoor lights are off or dimmed to prevent window collisions, providing water sources like bird baths, and planting native plants around your house for food and a resting spot. Keep your eye out for these beauties as they begin their trip!

In Observance of Labor Day, Monday, September 7th, our main facilities will be open 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Weather permitting, our Outdoor Pools/Splash Parks will be open 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Our Nature Parks will be open regular hours.

Big things are taking shape at Grassland Park! 🛠️🌲 Work on the new bike park is moving right along, with fresh trail alignments and wooden bridges going in. We’re loving how these shaded, wooded paths are coming together and can’t wait to welcome riders out here soon.

Our first harvest at Peacock Hill Nature Park is officially here!

Harmony in the garden! 🌽🫘🎃 The "Three Sisters" technique—a traditional Indigenous method of companion planting—combines corn, beans, and squash so they can support and protect each other as they grow.

We are excited to announce the upcoming addition of all-terrain wheelchairs at Peacock Hill Nature Park. These amazing devices will allow those with limited mobility to explore our beautiful parks and hiking trails.

Information on how to reserve an all-terrain wheelchair will be posted on our website soon.

Out with the old, in with the bold! 🐍✨ Did you know that before a snake sheds its skin (a process called ecdysis), its colors actually become very dull and muted? Their eyes will even turn a cloudy, milky blue!

This happens because a special fluid builds up between the old layer of skin and the vibrant new one growing underneath. Once that fluid reabsorbs, they rub against rough surfaces to peel the old layer off, revealing the bright, fresh patterns you normally see.

Visit our favorite corn snake, Cornbread, at Peacock Hill Nature Park and check out the amazing pattern and color of her skin.
