FPL’S On a Screen Near You – The Bunker
A small team of scientists races against time to save the world in the 2024 sci-fi thriller The Bunker, now available on Kanopy, the free movie streaming app available with your Franklin Library card. Dr. Michelle Riley (Chelsea Edmundson) a micropathogen specialist, joins a team tasked with creating a biological weapon to be used on extraterrestrials who have arrived on Earth, apparently to invade. No contact has yet been made with the alien spaceships, but the U.S. government isn’t taking any chances. Each of the six members of the team has their own separate lab, which are scattered in bunkers in various locations throughout the country, specially equipped to protect them on their dangerous mission. Each scientist is in their own facility completely alone, collaborating via videoconferencing. Michelle is the first team member to be attacked by the aliens. She is mostly successful in fending them off, but is left with horrifying visions and hallucinations, which haunt her each day. As the team begins to be picked off one-by-one, the remaining scientists struggle to complete their task. The tension created by the fact that each scientist is alone is very effective, and along with the desperate race against time makes this no-frills thriller an exciting and creepy watch.
