There’s something for everyone at the library this week! Bring the little ones to Toddler Time, get creative at our Adult Art Workshops, join one of our all-ages clubs, and have fun at our Slime Workshops.

Labor Day Closure: All St. Mary Parish Library locations will be closed Monday, September 7 in observance of Labor Day. We’ll see you when we reopen on Tuesday!

On Friday, September 4, St. Mary Parish Library celebrated the ribbon-cutting of a very special new library space at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in Centerville.

This new space was created for offenders residing at the facility who are actively working toward a better future. The space was renovated by trustees and furnished with surplus furniture from the library, with a starting collection of nearly 200 books, including a nonfiction and biography collection, magazines provided by the State Library and books selected for a book club.

But this library is about more than books. It is a place for learning, reflection, creativity, and personal growth. Offenders who demonstrate good behavior and participate in GED or trade classes through SLCC have access to the library as they prepare for their eventual return to the community.

Our library staff will also visit twice a month to offer art classes and a book club.

We believe libraries should be places where everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow, and begin again. We’re proud to be part of this effort and grateful to everyone who helped bring this library to life.

Because everyone deserves the chance to write a new chapter. ❤️📖
