District 9 friends, today is Election Day, May 5.

Question:
What do you do when there is no candidate on the ballot who actually represents you?

Many of us were raised to believe voting is a civic duty, no matter what. But in Williamson County, and especially here in District 9, we often face ballots that do not reflect our values or give us a real choice.

So most people do what feels responsible.
They vote for the “lesser of two evils” just to make sure their voice is counted, even if they feel torn while casting those votes.

But here is the problem: That approach may be keeping things exactly the same.

Why do I say that?

Well, we are all aware that the political landscape has changed quite a bit over the past few decades. Systems are now built for long term strategy, not short term reactions. When we vote out of fear or compromise instead of alignment, we unintentionally reinforce or strengthen outcomes we do not actually want.

The way the current system is configured, voting is not just about today. It is also DATA. Your vote tells parties and future candidates who exists, what they believe, and where support actually lives.

If you consistently vote for a party you do not align with, even out of conscience or duty, you become invisible to the very people who could represent you in the future.

And if they cannot see you, they cannot build for you and they cannot represent your beliefs.

That is where the long game comes in.

Even when it feels uncomfortable, one strategy is to vote in alignment with your actual values and beliefs, not just the options in front of you today. That is how a base is identified, measured, and eventually built. That is how stronger candidates show up in future elections. Your choice of ballot today is what will encourage future candidates that they have the support to make a difference when they run. They will know they have a chance to win as your representative.

Nothing changes if you make yourself invisible to likeminded people by pulling a ballot that isn’t truly in keeping with your values. That’s how the game has really changed.

This election is not only about today or the next few years. It is bigger than that because your vote shapes the future of District 9 and Williamson County over time.

This is something I didn’t fully understand until I decided to run.

I know this can feel like a challenging shift in thinking for some. It was for me, too. But it’s an important one.

If you are open to it, I would genuinely like to hear your thoughts. Have you ever felt like your ballot did not reflect you? Did you feel caught, frustrated when you didn’t have a voting choice that felt right? What did you do?

I will also be sharing opportunities soon for in-person conversations around this. These are important discussions, and they start at the community level.

The ballot you pull matters, but perhaps in different ways than we’ve been told previously. Thank you for showing up to the polls today.

Our county has changed so radically in the last decade but our leadership for our district’s county commission has not.

It's time for fresh stewards and new voices in Williamson. We have new challenges to confront - school funding, debt reconciliation, traffic congestion, housing affordability, infrastructure to support our progress - and we have outgrown small town answers.

Please help me support our community with a fresh perspective to meet current conditions in Williamson. I am motivated by a deep sense of service to my community and a vision for the continuation of Williamson County as a community, not just a commodity.

I appreciate your vote for D9 County Commissioner this Tuesday, May 5.

Questions indeed. Where is the transparency?

In one of the largest financial decisions in its history, Williamson County is quietly moving forward with a potential sale of its publicly owned hospital — a deal that could top half a billion dollars and reshape local health care for decades.

But as the process accelerates behind closed doors, some county commissioners say they are being left in the dark, raising concerns about transparency, oversight and whether political timing is overtaking public accountability.

"This is the largest transaction the county has ever done," one commissioner said. "...and nobody can explain why we are moving so fast."

We live in the wealthiest county in the state of Tennessee. WHY is Williamson County $1.1 billion in debt? And why should we have to sacrifice our beloved hospital because irresponsible fiscal decisions were made by those in power? There must be a better way. Vote for new leadership who can faithfully steward the wishes of those who live here. This issue is one of many questionable decisions happening at least partially under the radar of many Williamson residents.

A bill allowing Williamson County to use hospital sale proceeds to pay down $1.1 billion in debt is being pondered. See link below ⬇️

Of the many reasons I am running for County Commission, I believe that questions should be asked about why the jewel of our healthcare community - Williamson Medical Center - is possibly set to be put up for sale to corporations like HCA. Why aren’t we talking more about the ramifications to our community if this award-winning facility transitions from our public hospital to a private, corporate-owned commodity?
