Franklin Springs Police Department recovers reported stolen U-Haul.

The U-Haul was reported stolen on September the 11th from a location within the city. On September the 14th, Franklin Springs Patrol units located the U-Haul within the city limits unoccupied. This incident is still under investigation.

Today we remember the 441 first responders who rushed in and paid the ultimate sacrifice 25 years ago on 9/11, and the 9,000 more that have passed away due to illnesses directly related to their service that day, and in the search and recovery afterwards.

Today we remember Captain Stan Elrod who was hit and killed by a drunk driver in Danielsville six years ago while performing physical training.

Important info- Our department has been made aware of a Microsoft Defender Scam that has found it's way into our community.

If you see a Microsoft Defender alert urging you to call "Microsoft" do not click any links or dial the provided number! This scam can lead to fraudsters impersonating bank representatives and stealing your money by gaining access to your personal information via access of your computer or by means of having you take money out of your accounts to place in other accounts for what they refer to as safe keeping or security.

WHAT TO DO:
1. DO NOT SHARE PERSONAL OR BANKING INFO via links, emails, phone calls or text.
2. DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY
3. RESTART YOUR COMPUTER: Use Ctrl+Alt+Delete and restart, even if prompted not to.
4. CLEAR YOUR BROWSER: Remove cache, cookies, and history to prevent pop-ups from returning.
5. RUN A HEALTH CHECK: Scan your computer or consult an IT professional.

UPDATE ON POWER OUTAGE! Estimated time now for power to be restored is 1pm. We will try and update you as we get further.

Power is out across town! Estimated time to have it restored at this time is 9:30am. Please be cautious at intersections where traffic lights are out... some of you that can't drive to begin with may need to stay home for a little while! Royston is also in the dark as well.

The Northern Judicial Support Task Force was on scene today at Pharma Tech supporting firefighters from mutiple agencies across two counties who responded to a chemical spill at the facility.

The NJSTF supplied ice cold water and snacks to over 20 first responders while on scene. The NJSTF is a non-profit 501(3)(c) that supports first responders and their families in Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Madison, and Olgethorpe counties in their time of need. You can donate to the organization through venmo, cash app, or by way of any Valiant Bank location.
