Emmanuel Home, Franklin Park, New Jersey

Emmanuel Home, Franklin Park, New Jersey 254 year old Farm House converted to a Christian Home forAged faithfully run by Henry and Gertrude Brauner I have contacted the Councilman in Franklin Twp.

The township is considering demolition of the home.....

Before the farmhouse was built, the farm was sold in 1720 to the Stoothoff Family, Dutch immigrants who had settled in New York in the 17th century. An active farm until 1951, the property then was sold and made into a home for aged. A church purchased the property in 1986, and uses the expanded farmhouse for offices, Sunday school classes

and English services. Services in Chinese are held in the church’s main building. from Steve Comeau, whose family lived down the street from Emmanuel Home. and told him all I knew, re: the dirt cellar which held runaway slaves, etc. but haven't heard back. Apparently there was a meeting on Monday, Dec. 5 and what happened then I don't know. It is breaking my heart, but aside from all deeds and searches from 1830, I do not have any proof that EH was an historic site. Also heard that George Washington slept there,

I found the Emmanuel Home Brochure.
This is not for the original home on

Been thinking a lot about all who served at Emmanuel Home over the many years it was active in Franklin Park, NJ. I would love to hear stories from people who had family members who lived out their golden years in the Home.

Thought I would share this sweet picture of Gertrude and Henry Brauner.

Since I don't live in New Jersey I wonder if anyone who lives near Evelyn Ave in Franklin Park, NJ would tell me if the home is still standing or if it has been replaced. Pictures would be great. Thank you.
