FPD Response to Allegations at Local Restaurant

On June 4, 2026, a locally viral social media post caused several people to blame the Frankfort Police Department for a lack of an arrest on an individual from an incident reported on May 20, 2026, at Everything OK Restaurant. The allegations are that the male individual was โ€œtouching himselfโ€ while staring at two young children. It was also reported that this was not the first incident where the individual had been kicked out after being inappropriate with children.

The Frankfort Police Department did respond on May 20, 2026, at approximately 6:03 pm. The call to Clinton County Central Dispatch minutes prior reveals that the complainant reported that they needed a customer trespassed from the property. They further reported that โ€œhe stares at children and makes people uncomfortable that they donโ€™t want to return.โ€ The first of three officers who arrived investigated the complaint. The officer confirmed with the complainant that the individual was โ€œstaring at children/customers in a weird manner making them feel uncomfortable.โ€ The officer confirmed with the complainant that he was to be removed and trespassed.

When the officers confirmed with the owner of the restaurant regarding the trespass, the owner declined to trespass the individual but wanted him removed from the restaurant for the rest of the night. The complainant overheard this and did not agree with the owner about the decision. The complainant grabbed their belongings and left while officers were on scene.

The aforementioned information is the only information we received on the night of May 20, 2026. While we agree that staring at people to the point of making them uncomfortable is weird, it is not a crime. After reviewing police reports, phone recordings and body camera footage, no crime was reported to Clinton County Central Dispatch nor to the three Frankfort Police Officers who arrived on scene. This is the first incident that the Frankfort Police Department was involved in for this individual at the restaurant. He has only been removed once by usโ€ฆ on May 20, 2026. In fact, this is only the second involvement of this individual in our county-wide information sharing system. The individual is reported to be from Lafayette, Indiana. The other involvement on this individual was in 2018 and that was for a disabled vehicle.

Had a crime been reported, the investigation would have been done differently. Allegations of touching oneโ€™s ge****ls while staring at children/people would be considered a crime that would require an investigation. However, we cannot investigate what we donโ€™t know.

On May 31, 2026, at approximately 6:27 pm., Frankfort Police responded to the 200 block of Avery St. for a report of a stabbing. The juvenile suspect is in custody. There is no further danger to the public.

The preliminary investigation reveals the juvenile suspect was in the act of slashing a tire with a box cutter when confronted by an adult. That adult received a minor injury to their arm. The juvenile suspect has injuries that appear to be caused from their hand slipping on the box cutter while attempting to slash the tire.

The Clinton County Sheriffโ€™s Office assisted in the apprehension of the juvenile who had fled the area. FPD will continue to investigate but will not provide additional updates. All injuries will be treated by medical professionals and the juvenile will face charges.

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Memorial Day 2026 ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, the Frankfort Police Department honors and remembers the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

Memorial Day is a solemn reminder that the freedoms we enjoy were paid for by the courage and selflessness of those who gave everything. We stand with our community in gratitude and remembrance.

Let us never forget their sacrifice and may we live each day in a way that honors their legacy.

Forever grateful. Always remembered.
