The Indiana Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) are touring replicas of the lanterns used to signal Paul Revere and other riders. These ten lanterns are traveling across all 92 counties to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution.

The original lanterns were hung in the steeple of Boston's Old North Church on April 18, 1775, signaling whether British troops were advancing "by land" (one lantern) or "by sea" (two lanterns). The British chose the water route; therefore, two lanterns were placed in the steeple.

On July 4, 2026, the traveling lanterns will return to Indianapolis to be displayed at the Indiana War Memorials Foundation as a permanent monument for the United States Semiquincentennial.
