Counties maintain 40,000 miles of roads and more than 5,000 bridges in Kentucky, but County Road Aid is now more than $20 million below where it was 12 years ago — while highway construction costs have roughly doubled.

Project-based investments are helping, but counties need a predictable, sustainable funding source to keep up with maintenance needs.
