Frankfort Fire Protection District

Frankfort Fire Protection District Originally founded as a volunteer fire department in 1885, The Frankfort Fire Protection District was formed in 1962.

The district format allowed for increased funding which lead to the ability to provide Fire, EMS, and other services. The District serves a residential population of approximately 45,000 people, and covers 42 square miles. The District is a full time career department that staffs five fire stations. In Addition to Fire and Advanced Life Support EMS services, The District responds to Hazardous Mate

rials Spills, Technical Rescue incidents such as confined space, and has a Water Rescue/Dive team. Portions of the Village of Frankfort, Frankfort Township, Green Garden Township and a
portion of the Village of Mokena are contained within the district. The Frankfort Fire Protection District is a taxing governmental agency separate
from the Village of Frankfort.

Decisions we make now will shape Frankfort’s emergency response for years to come.

What level of service does our community want? How fast should crews arrive? How well are they trained? What equipment is available to them? What level of funding is needed to make it happen?

This is where those decisions start.

Our next workshop, Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m., at Fire Station #73, focuses on the financial side of emergency services and the level of funding needed to support them moving forward. Your voice counts. Join us to share your thoughts.

When you call 911, seconds matter.

How fast crews arrive, how many are on scene, how well trained they are, and what equipment they have, depend on how the district is funded.

Our upcoming workshop on Wednesday, April 15, at 7 p.m. at Fire Station #73 is about understanding that connection and helping decide what makes sense for our community. Your voice counts.

Join us early for station tours and hands-only CPR anytime between 5:30 and 7 p.m.
