Question: Do I have to work or be in a job training program, go to school, or volunteer full-time to meet the upcoming Medicaid work or community engagement requirement?

You must work or be in a job training program, go to school, volunteer, or do a mix of all three for a minimum of 80 hours per month. Earning $580 per month, or an average of $580 per month over the last six months, counts too. You must meet this requirement in three of the six months before you apply or renew your coverage.

Members or applicants ages 19 to 64 who qualify for Medicaid based on income are subject to work or community engagement requirements. Learn more at MedicaidChanges.ky.gov.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. This month provides an opportunity to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and to support individuals, families, and communities affected by the disease. By continuing to share information and encourage conversations about women's health, we can help bring greater awareness to ovarian cancer across Kentucky. If you have questions or concerns about ovarian cancer or your health, talk with your health care provider.

A federal law passed in July 2025 is changing the rules about who can get Medicaid and what some members must do to keep it. You may be affected if you are ages 19 to 64, qualify for Medicaid based on income, and are not exempt.

The Kentucky Department for Medicaid Services has created a website where members can learn more about these new rules. Visit the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange (KHBE) website to see these changes: https://buff.ly/8t30Uxw

These off-cycle revalidations only affect some providers. If you're one of them, you will receive a letter from Kentucky Medicaid with directions on the steps you must take.
