Household hazardous waste collection is Saturday, October 17th from 8-12 at 309 Rouse Ave!

Bring your household chemicals, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, oil-based paint, electronics ⚡️

What to do with latex/interior wall paint? Harden w kitty litter or sand. County residents: place in a trash bag and put in your curbside trash can. City residents: leave your hardened paint can outside of your trash can on the ground, so city staff can verify the paint is dry.

Don’t take propane tanks to scrap metal collection! NOTE: it is a different day than HHW this year. At Lakeview Park: Oct 22, and 23 from 8-4:30, Oct 24 from 8-12.

Thank you for putting waste in its place!

How to dispose of paint? Oil-based paint can be dropped off for disposal during Household Hazardous Waste Collection on October 17th!

County residents-
Needs to be hardened with kitty litter or sand, lid back on, put in a trash bag, then placed in your curbside trash bin.

Needs to be hardened w kitty litter or sand. Staff prefers residents to put the cans of paint outside trash can with the lid off, to verify if the paint is hardened.

Want to start classroom recycling collection at your / your child’s school? Contact Franklin Co Solid Waste!

We received a grant from the KY Division of Waste Management to purchase recycling collection totes for classrooms.

All FCS schools already have recycling cans (black w blue lids) outside the building or a green recycling trailer, provided and serviced by the City of Frankfort!

Our goal this year is to help support staff/ recycling club students with collection in classrooms ♻️

Did you know ALL Franklin County households have a recycling bin? If you’re not using yours, we encourage you to at least recycle cardboard and aluminum cans!

Starting Monday, residents can grab a recycling bin sticker to place on the bin! 📍321 W Main St M-F 8-4:30

What is recyclable in our community? Same rules as Lexington! Type 1&2 plastic bottles, jugs, and jars, aluminum and steel cans, food/beverage glass, and any type of paper/cardboard.
