We join Americans everywhere as we pause to mourn those lost 25 years ago today on Sept. 11, 2001. Today and every day, we honor their memory while thanking first responders who protect our state and nation. 💙

⭐ Employee Spotlight: Courtey Rondeau ⭐

Courtney Rondeau joined the Department of Juvenile Justice as a social service worker in the Community Services Branch in 2017, after joining from the Department for Community Based Services. She holds a master's degree in social work from Ohio State University and was promoted to juvenile services district supervisor in 2022. While providing leadership and community-based services for juveniles, she also oversees staff, and ensures effective case management and court operations that provide accountability and positive outcomes for our youth and families.

Rondeau takes great pride in the work she does to move juveniles, our department and our commonwealth forward. That commitment has been evident, and leadership and compassion has created positive change in both the lives of our juveniles and staff.

Thank you for your continued work to change the lives of our people, Courtney! We are incredibly grateful to have you on our team! 💙

It takes one spark to transform lives! ⚡

Inside our Breathitt Day Treatment facility, our students are putting on virtual reality headsets, picking up specialized simulators, and learning the high-demand trade of welding.

Virtual welding classes allow our students to master technical skills without the safety risks, high material costs, or anxieties of a traditional metal shop. This program teaches juveniles skills that can contribute to behavioral growth, and job-training for real-world success!

We are incredibly proud to offer cutting-edge tools that empower our students to visualize a bright, successful future. 🚀🛠️

🌟Employee Spotlight: Jackie Gadd🌟

Jackie began her career in public service through the Cabinet for Families and Children in 1994 working with public offenders. When DJJ was formed in 1996, she joined the department, continuing to work with public offenders in the community. She then spent 15 years in the Quality Assurance Branch before returning to community services as Juvenile Services District Supervisor. Her experience has led to working as Regional Manager for Community Services, where her leadership and advocacy support more than youth and families in the Southeast region, but staff and partners in the Department of Juvenile Justice as well.

After more than 30 years of service, Jackie remains steadfast and motivated in her work, and we are so grateful to have her on our team. Congratulations Jackie! 💙
