Guys Read!
Friday, May 8, 4-7:00pm
Main Library
Do you know a middle school guy who would rather do anything but read? Or likes to read but is having trouble finding books that appeal to him? Bring him to the first ever Guys Read! event at the Framingham Public Library on Friday, May 8! We’ll be featuring: Mark Peter Hughes, author of Lemonade Mouth, which was adapted as a Disney movie; a “Mind and Muscle” contest; plus raffle prizes including a GoPro camera! I will also bring along a stockpile of books covering themes likely to appeal to middle school guys: sports, humor, coming of age from a boy’s perspective, along with graphic novels and nonfiction. And of course we’ll have plenty of pizza!

Please encourage your middle school guy to read Lemonade Mouth before attending the event. Multiple copies are available for borrowing at the Framingham Public Library main and Christa McAuliffe branch locations. If you purchase a copy of Lemonade Mouth or any other book by Mr. Hughes, he will be happy to autograph it at the event.

To register, please contact Marcy Maiorana, 508-532-5570, ext. 4335 or email [email protected].

In honor of Black History Month, the Library invited Ms. Imani McFarlane of House of Tafari in Boston to lead a workshop on adinkra! Adinkra refers to beautiful symbols, each one with a distinct meaning, from Ghana. Workshop participants learned about the history of adinkra and then used carvings made from gourds to place stamps on cloth. Check out the photos!
