Our this week is 49-year resident Chris Shewry!

Chris has worked for the Town of Foxborough since 1998 in various roles and just celebrated her retirement last week! Since 2013, Chris has served as the program coordinator for the Human Services Department where she prepared weekly newsletters on senior programing, welcomed visitors, signed residents up for programs, provided their upcoming events to the Foxboro Reporter and more. In her role, Chris also organized senior trips including day trips around New England as well as trips to Ireland, Italy, Iceland, Alaska and many more locations!

“My favorite part of living here is that there has always been a strong sense of community among residents,” Chris said. “Foxborough was one of the first communities in the area to build a senior center for its older population, and it has been a great opportunity to have been a part of the changes and expansion of the Human Services Department throughout the years. Now, as a new retiree, I look forward to taking part in the programs still to come.”

Blood Pressure Clinics are available at the Community Center on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. by appointment. The next Clinics will be held on September 8 & 22. Please call the Community Center at 508-543-1234 to set up an appointment. Cost: Free!

The holiest day on the Jewish calendar is Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. How do we spend this day? Learn all about Yom Kippur on Wednesday, September 9 at 11am. Even though it’s a fast day, there is a break-the- fast meal we will all sample. This is purely an information session meant to broaden the understanding of Judaism and not a religious education class. Cost: Free!

NEW VAN GO TRIP: THE CORVETTES DOO W*P REVUE LUNCH & THEATRE COMBO
The Norwood Theatre is offering a Lunch & Theatre combo package for a special performance of The Corvettes Doo W*p Revue, a show dedicated to preserving and performing the greatest music ever-made- the music of the 1950’s Doo W*p era. This package includes a meal of chicken, potatoes or rice, small salad, vegetable, and dessert at a local restaurant. Wednesday October 28, Lunch: 11:30am-12:30pm, Performance 1pm-2:30/3pm. Cost: $65.

The Foxborough Community Center hosted a wonderful Bon Voyage party for Program Coordinator, Chris Shewry for her incredible 28 years of service to the Town of Foxborough. Over 200 friends, coworkers and community members came to wish her well. Chris has touched so many lives throughout the years and she will be truly missed by all. ❤
