I hope you will entrust me to be that leader. My wife, Karen Schapiro, and I have lived in the village for 23 years. We have raised Nathan and Jacob, our two sons, here. I have served two terms (6 years) as a village trustee. I’ve held leadership positions in village administration. I was active both on the village board and with Footbridge Friends to give the village the new footbridge over the B
ridge Lane ravine. I have researched and written over 70 articles on village life for the Fox Point of View. In short, I am able and ready. The first order of business will be to manage the village responsibly: to preserve—and improve—the high quality of village we enjoy within a reasonable cost structure. Second, I will work to protect village recreational and cultural assets, including a redesign and refurbishment of the swimming pool—a facility that has not changed much since it opened in 1968. In an era of declining population on the North Shore, we need to attract a diverse cross section of residents to our village—young families included. Third, I will work to instill a sense among village residents that each of us have a place, and a stake, in the great community we call Fox Point—a community we should appreciate and treasure but work hard to make even better.
