When you are out and about tonight, grabbing your Fowler - Center Township Fire Department grub, or visiting The Fowler Theatre, look for Kona Ice at the Theatre.

We may have a few freebies for EMS Week, while they last, for Kona and Ice Cream at the Fowler Bowling Center!

It's EMS week! Everyone deserves credit for what they do every day, but this week is the week! Our staff deserve every ounce of credit, recognition, and kudos they receive. 365/24/7, EMS is there to help.

While it's a 'week', it involves a community. In 1977, a group of folks started something that they surely had no idea what it would evolve into. We hope we have made them proud!

A community we serve is what makes it work. From the trained Good Samaritan, the 911 dispatcher, fire departments, law enforcement, air EMS, to the ER, it's a system of doers. We cannot do this job without those partners, allies, and others, including those that supply us with drugs to treat you, work on our trucks, give us that cup of caffeine in the middle of the night (and day), plow the snowy road ahead of us, pay the bills, and do payroll.

As the week progresses and you see an ambulance crew, tell them thank you. Being there for you and your loved ones in times of need is an honor. To Benton County EMS, and our partners - Thank you and Happy EMS Week!

BCEMS Director

Congratulations to our very own, EMT Heather Lawton! Heather completed crisis intervention training with NAMI West Central Indiana this week. This course better prepares our staff for a wide variety of patient encounters.

Congratulations to the 30+ officers and first responders who graduated from the 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training program this week as part of the Spring 2026 training!

At NAMI West Central Indiana, we are proud to help train, organize, and support the CIT program. This program equips officers and first responders with the skills to recognize signs of mental illness, de-escalate crisis situations, and connect individuals to appropriate care. Instead of defaulting to arrest or incarceration, CIT-trained responders help ensure that people in crisis are treated with dignity and compassion.
