Books Galore Book Club met September 3rd to discuss The Mourning Arcade by Dawn Reno Langley.

Fourteen members were present and we were excited to welcome a new member, Deana, to our group. It is always good to add a new opinion to our book chatter!

Seven members really enjoyed this book and thought it was much better than The Mystic, which was a previous read from Dawn Reno Langley. Five members liked this one and two just did not like it at all!

The events near the end of the story, as well as the repetitious plotline, caused the two negative opinions.

The readers agreed that the author's dealing with PTSD through the main character and her work with Sophie, the troubled elephant at the Thai sanctuary, was handled well. We did also agree that the author left too many loose ends and really would have liked a romantic happily ever after.

The book for September reading is The Eye of the Needle by Ken Follett. See you October 1st for discussion at 5:30!

Also: The Methodist Church book sale here in Four Oaks will be held September 10, 11, and 12 with a lot of good books and “goodies”.
