We had an awesome time visiting the students at Brandywine Elementary School for Fire Prevention Week! 🚒✨

Our volunteers loved talking with the kids about fire safety and showing them what to do in an emergency. The best parts of the day? The kids got to take a tour of the ambulance and even test out their firefighting skills by spraying water right from the engine hose! 💦

Thank you to the staff and students at Brandywine Elementary for having us. We have some future firefighters in the making! 👋 Over and out!

🔥Fire Friday🔥

When a brush fire sparks or a dumpster fire gets out of hand, Tanker 613 is the first heavy-hitter out the door! 🌾🔥

Built on a rugged International chassis with an Alexis Fire Equipment body, this rig packs a 2,000-gallon water tank and a specialized 500-gpm PTO pump. Thanks to its setup, it serves as our first-due tanker for all wildland, grass, and trash fires.

Tanker 613 is also outfitted with two pre-connected handlines, meaning our crews can jump off and attack fires quickly upon arrival.

Whenever Tanker 612 needs a breather from hauling pool water fundraiser, Tanker 613 steps right up to keep the pool water flowing to your backyards. Every single pool-fill donation goes right back into supporting our volunteer crews, maintaining our rigs, and keeping our community safe.

🚒 From Community Fun to Duty Calls! 🚨

We love supporting the community both in times of fun and times of need! Today, some of our dedicated members took Engine 612 out to the Touch-a-Truck event to hang out and show off the truck.

For a volunteer firefighter, the call to serve never stops! On the way back from the event, our crew was immediately dispatched and successfully responded to two back-to-back medical runs.

We are incredibly proud of all our volunteers who transitioned seamlessly from giving high-fives to saving lives. Thank you to everyone who came out to see us today, and a huge thank you to our crew for their constant readiness!

🔥Fire Friday🔥

When a fire breaks out in a tight space, a deep field, or off the beaten path where our massive tankers can't easily tread, we call in the quick-strike specialist: Grass Rig 612.

Built specifically for rapid off-road response, this heavy-duty brush truck is equipped with a high-mobility 4x4 chassis, a dedicated skid unit tank, a high-pressure pump, and specialized whip lines. It allows our crews to safely maneuver through rough terrain, rolling fields, and tight wooded spaces to knock down fast-moving grass, field, and brush fires before they can reach nearby homes or barns.

From protecting local agricultural fields during the busy harvest seasons to backing up our mutual-aid partners across Shelby and Hancock counties, Grass Rig 612 is a vital piece of our mission to keep our 55-square-mile district safe.

Assisted another volunteer fire department with a barn fire.

At 10:45 Manilla was dispatched for a barn fire in Shelby county. When crews arrived, they found the barn fully involved. Water supply was established and two attack lines were stretched from Engine 61. The fire was brought under control in fifteen minutes. No injuries were reported. Our quick response was accomplished with the help of Shelbyville Fire Department, Morristown Fire Department, Posey Township Fire Department, and Fountaintown Fire Department. Thank you very much to all of our mutual aid partners. Your assistance is always greatly appreciated.

🔥Fire Friday🔥

When the tones drop for a rural fire where hydrants are out of reach, our team knows we can count on Tanker 612 to bring the water.

Built on a rugged Freightliner chassis and equipped with an Alexis Waterous 1250-gpm pump and a massive 2,000-gallon water tank, this rig is a cornerstone of our fire suppression and mutual-aid operations.

It also carries a 2,100-gallon portable dump tank to set up rapid water shuttle operations right on the scene.

But when it's not protecting lives and property, Tanker 612 has another very important community job: filling up your swimming pools! During the spring and early summer.☀️🏊‍♂️

🚨Rescue 612 🚨

Ever wonder what tools we bring to the scene of an emergency when Rescue 612 shows up.

It's our first-due tactical unit for all motor vehicle crashes in the Fountaintown area.
This 2006 International 4400 / Ferrara build is a rolling toolbox designed to save lives.

Here is a quick look at what it carries:
🧰 Genesis Extrication Tools (The "Jaws of Life") for vehicle rescues.
💨 On-board Cascade System to refill air bottles right on the scene.
💧 1250 GPM Pump & 750-Gallon Tank so it can double as a fully functional fire engine.

Whether it’s a fire or a complex technical rescue, Rescue 612 and our dedicated volunteers stand ready to respond.
