The milling and grading work is full speed ahead this week on Southmoor Drive between the American Legion and Paladin Place. The repaving phase is expected next week. Please slow down through the area, prepare for one-way traffic, and watch out for road crews. Thank you!

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of former Fountain City Councilmember and former State Representative Lois Landgraf.

Lois dedicated much of her life to public service and to improving the lives of the citizens of Fountain and the State of Colorado. As a member of Fountain City Council and later as the representative for House District 21, she worked tirelessly on legislation and initiatives that protected, supported, and strengthened our community.

Beyond elected office, Lois was deeply involved in the Fountain community through organizations such as the Fountain Economic Development Corporation and the Fountain Valley Business Network. She also brought extensive professional experience to her service, earning her MBA and serving for 10 years as a Department Manager at the University of Washington.

Those who knew Lois knew she was truly a public servant at heart — thoughtful, dedicated, hardworking, and deeply committed to helping others. Her impact on Fountain and the region will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the City of Fountain, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Lois’ family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside her.”

For the first time ever on Monday, the Fountain Municipal Court will have its own home, just across the street from its previous home inside City Hall. The new location next door to the Fountain Utilities Customer Service Center offers more space, additional safety, and an overall better experience for both staff and citizens. This will also be the place to pay traffic tickets and other fines in person. Big thanks to all the staff that made this a reality over the past 6 months.

While making one of his regular trips to drop off Gatorade for first responders and other city crews, Fountain City Council member Sean Verhoeff got to witness a class for Fountain PD Explorers last night. He was super impressed by not only the medical training taught by Corporal Destin Alvarez and Officer Andy Tran, but also the discipline and attentiveness of the Explorers. It's really great to see our youth taking an early interest in serving their community.

First responders in Fountain recognize that a certain amount of danger comes with the job, but YOU can help minimize that danger by driving responsibly when approaching accident scenes. Please don't make an already challenging situation even worse.

The Fountain City Council was privileged this week to hear from Congressman Jeff Crank, who spoke about PFAS, Fountain's strong support of the military, services for veterans, and new space jobs coming to El Paso County. He also picked up some hardware, in the form of a custom challenge coin from Mayor Sharon Thompson.
