Today, the Fountain Valley Fire and Police Departments gathered at Veterans Park for a 9/11 Remembrance Day ceremony to honor the first responders and innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001.

It was a day that forever changed our nation. We remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to save others that day and those who continue to put their lives on the line to protect our communities.

Mayor Jim Cunneen, Councilmembers Kim Constantine and Ted Bui, and members of our community came together to keep our promise that those lives will never be forgotten.

Thank you to our Fountain Valley public safety professionals and to first responders across our nation for your courage, dedication, and service every day.

Join us for the 3rd Mile with the Mayor! ☀️

Lace up your walking shoes and join the City for Mile with the Mayor for a fun and active community gathering to connect with neighbors while enjoying the outdoors.

📍 Meet at the Fountain Valley Recreation Center (16400 Brookhurst St.)

This community walk is part of the Mayor's 'Fitness Valley' initiative, encouraging residents to stay active while connecting with local leadership and fellow neighbors. Walk alongside Mayor Jim Cunneen, Police Chief Craig Heredia, Fire Chief Chris Nigg, City Manager Maggie Le and members of City staff for a casual community stroll. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, meet your neighbors, and ask questions of City leadership.

Wear orange to recognize September as Hunger Action Month, a national effort to raise awareness of food and nutritional insecurity in local communities. Take action and do what you can to support hunger issues in Fountain Valley. 🧡

Do you have a collection of old electronics you've been meaning to get rid of?

Fountain Valley Community Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Fountain Valley and Republic Services, is promoting responsible disposal practices and raising public awareness by hosting a FREE Electronics Recycling, Paper Shredding event on Saturday, September 12 at Fountain Valley Sports Park (16400 Brookhurst St.). The event will take place from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. or until the truck is full.

On Tuesday, August 18, the Fountain Valley City Council recognized outgoing Finance Director Ryan Smith and Chef Marla McGee for their outstanding contributions to the city.

Mayor Cunneen and City Council recognized Ryan Smith for his accomplishments as the finance director at the City of Fountain Valley. Ryan brought over 20 years of experience and expertise in municipal finance to Fountain Valley, rebuilding confidence and trust in the city's financial reporting, making him an invaluable part of our team. In his role, Ryan consistently demonstrated professionalism and leadership, and we wish him the best on his new journey as he leaves Fountain Valley with an unforgettable mark.

Chef Marla McGee was also recognized for her outstanding leadership and devotion to our community as the Fountain Valley Rotary Club President. Chef McGee has showcased a commitment to service, fellowship, and making positive changes to our community through her work.
