Early Fountain Lake
Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church in the Fountain Lake community was founded in north Garland County. Prior to 1903, the church was known as South Fork Missionary Baptist Church and was established around 1840. This photo's inscription is "Moving South Fork Church".
The South Fork school and church stood on the northeast corner of what is now Highway 5 and Ziegler Road until August 16, 1903, when it was moved north about a mile on Danville Road and renamed Oak Hill Baptist Church. The church moved to its current location after W. A. Neighbors and his wife, Rebecca, donated the land for a new building.
The sanctuary built in 2000 included the church's first baptistery.
