Members of the Rotary Club of Fountain Inn were up bright and early to serve breakfast the Fountain Inn High School teachers and staff. We hope everyone has a wonderful start to the new school year!

We were fortunate at our meeting today. First, we were able to award $1500 to Fountain Inn Parks and Recreation from our July Happy Bucks. This money was raised in memory of our long-time late member, PD Terry. James Rice from the Rec Department and Nancy Terry, P. D’s wife, were at the meeting to accept the donation. The gift will be used to help defray the cost for children who cannot afford to pay for thier participation. We also welcomed Fountain Inn Elementary’s Principal, Jessica Preisig, to talk about exciting developments at the school and the addition of our new middle school!

Fountain Inn Rotary was lucky to welcome our speaker this past Monday-Fountain Inn’s own- Rick Erwin! It was great to hear Rick’s life long journey through success in the restaurant business.

Last Friday night our club hosted a Star Party for the kids at Generations Group Home. These young people are doing the hard work of rehabilitation and we were so happy to give them a little reprieve for one night. Dinner, games and some friendship go a long way to lighten the load. Thank you to all the rotarians who volunteered their Friday night!

Wonderful meeting today where we recognized two of our scholarship winners- Kayla Crisp and Jaylen Lastringer from Fountain Inn High School. In the fall, Kayla will attend Furman University and Jaylen will be attending Lander University. Their chorus teacher, Sarah Wahl, attending with them and talked with us about Rotary Night of Singing. Go luck next year in college ladies! Fountain Inn is so proud of you!

We lost a great friend and Rotarian today and Fountain Inn will never be the same. Rest in Peace PD Terry.

A Lifelong Servant to the City of Fountain Inn
The City of Fountain Inn honors and remembers Rodger “PD” Terry, a devoted public servant whose life’s work helped shape generations of residents and the heart of our community.
PD began his career with the City of Fountain Inn on February 28, 1977, dedicating more than three decades of full-time service until his retirement on June 9, 2011. Throughout his tenure, he became synonymous with Parks and Recreation in Fountain Inn, serving for many years as Recreation Director and building programs, facilities, and traditions that brought families together and fostered a lifelong love of recreation, teamwork, and community pride.
Under his leadership, countless children played their first games, families gathered for community events, and friendships were formed on ballfields and courts across the city. His commitment, consistency, and care for others left an enduring mark—one so meaningful that PD Terry City Park proudly bears his name, standing as a lasting symbol of his impact.
PD Terry's legacy lives on in the programs he built, the park that honors his name, and the many lives he touched through decades of service. The City of Fountain Inn is deeply grateful for his dedication, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our community.
He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was—a mentor, a leader, and a true cornerstone of Fountain Inn.
We will celebrate the impact of PD's legacy to our community in the coming days and weeks, but today we mourn his loss and lift up the Terry family in prayer.
