Late this afternoon, our crew responded to a trail in McDowell Mountain Park to assist two adult female patients who had run out of water.

The patients were not injured, but needed assistance getting off the trail. The temperature this afternoon is around 103 degrees.

While waiting for the cooler months to hike may be the best option, if you are going out this summer, please set out early in the morning when temperatures are lower, bring a charged cell phone and tell someone where you’re going for your hike. Large quantities of water are a must.

Please keep heat safety top of mind, no matter how experienced you are.

🔥 Let’s talk fire prevention

Today we are focusing on defensible space around your property. Creating defensible space around your home can help slow the spread of fire. Clear dead vegetation, trim trees, and keep at least 30 feet around your home maintained.

Even a seemingly small amount of effort matters, as a little prep now can make a big difference later. 🚒🌵

🚒 Our fire crews work around the clock, and a Battalion Chief oversees the daily operations of each of our three shifts.

Between our two stations, crews don’t just sit around waiting for a call. They are constantly working on drills, keeping up with training and working on equipment upkeep between calls for service. 🧯

Occasionally, we fit in a little fun 😁

🚒 Training in Action!

This week, our crews are training on new personal protective equipment, purchased with approved funding by the Town Council.

Our crews joined the Mesa Fire and Medical Department to work through difficult situations while wearing new self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). 🔥 These new units replace the older equipment and come with enhanced life safety tools that better equip our firefighters when responding to a fire or other hazardous situation.

Like any new tool, getting hands on experience is the best way to get comfortable using them for real. Thank you to City of Mesa, Arizona Government for hosting us for training this week! These new units are going into service for our crews as we speak. 👏

🚒🔥 Today, we proudly recognize International Firefighters’ Day

At Fountain Hills Fire Department, this day is about honoring the dedication, courage, and sacrifice of firefighters here and around the world. Every call answered comes from a commitment to serve something bigger than ourselves.

We’re grateful for our team who show up day and night to keep our community safe, especially as we head into the hotter, high-risk months here in Arizona.
