Over the past week, FPD has had the pleasure of taking part in several of our community’s great events!

We had the opportunity to es**rt two motorcycle rides for two great causes: Kammy's Kause and Blazer 88 Foundation. We’re proud to support these organizations and the important work they do supporting our veterans and families with 4p- children!

We also had the chance to spend some time with the kindergarten classes at Fortville Elementary School! The students learned about what police do and got to check out some of our cool gear while they learned about various community helpers!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fortville Police Department Investigates Dollar General Burglary

On the morning of Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 8am the Fortville Police Department was called to the Dollar General in Fortville in reference to a burglary. The incident occurred during the early morning hours of the same day.

Through strong teamwork between FPD officers and detectives, the utilization of all available technology, and assistance from outside agencies, Fortville Police Department was able to identify, locate, and take the alleged suspect into custody approximately 35 hours after the crime was committed.

The investigation remains ongoing. All individuals involved are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Fortville Police Department would like to thank the Anderson Police Department and the Indiana Fusion Center for their assistance and support during this investigation.

🎓🚔 Congratulations, Officer Payne! 🚔🎓

This evening, the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy’s 239th Basic Class graduated!

We would like to congratulate and welcome back Officer Payne, who has spent the past four months at the academy training, learning, and preparing for his career in law enforcement. We’re excited to have him back and look forward to seeing him put that training to work serving our community!

We also want to congratulate all of the 239th Basic Class graduates. We wish each of you the best of luck as you return to your respective agencies and begin patrolling communities throughout the state. Stay safe, and thank you for choosing a career dedicated to serving others! 🇺🇸👮‍♂️

Not only are our students settling into the new school year, but so are our School Resource Officers!

We hope our SROs have a fun, safe, and successful school year. We also appreciate their continued commitment to our students, faculty, and the entire Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation community!

And apparently, back in the day, the school lunch of choice was square pizza… 🍕😂
We can confirm—it was good!

‼️ Juvenile has been Located‼️

‼️Attempting to locate a Missing/Runaway 15-year-old Juvenile‼️

The Fortville Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating Chloe Kazimier, a 15- year-old female from Fortville, IN. Chloe was last seen yesterday, Saturday the 8th, in the Wyndstone neighborhood at approximately 11 PM.

Chloe was wearing a brown tank top, brown leggings and slip on uggs.

5’7
115 pounds
Long Black hair
Brown Eyes

🚔 👮‍♂️welcome officers 🔵🔴

Last week Chief Bratton swore in our newest officer, Officer Morlen. Officer Morlen comes to us with a year of experience in law enforcement in Illinois. We are excited to have him be a part of our department and a part of the Fortville community! He is currently in field training and will be released on patrol in no time !

We also would like to take the time to formally welcome Officer Carter to the Fortville Police Department. Officer Carter joined our team 6 months ago with 9 years of experience in law enforcement. He’s already out on patrol serving the community!

We welcome both Officer Morlen and Carter to FPD!

📚Tomorrow we welcome our students back to school!

As the new school year begins, we ask all drivers to be extra mindful of:

* Students walking to and from bus stops.
* Children using crosswalks.
* Increased pedestrian traffic around schools.
* School buses picking up and dropping off students.

🛑 Remember: When a school bus has its stop arm extended and red lights flashing, you must stop as required by law.

🚸 School zone speed limits will also be in effect beginning tomorrow. Please slow down, stay alert, and eliminate distractions while driving through school zones.

Our officers will not hesitate to enforce these laws!🚔

The safety of our students is our top priority, and we all play a role in helping them arrive at school and home safely.

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Lynn, Indiana Town Marshal Brad Fisher.

Marshal Fisher was fatally struck while attempting to deploy a tire deflation device during the pursuit of a fleeing suspect in a stolen vehicle.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Marshal Fisher’s family, friends, and the Lynn community during this difficult time.
