Leadership Academy at John T. White Elementary School

Leadership Academy at John T. White Elementary School The mission of The Leadership Academy at John T. White Elementary is to provide optimum educational opportunities. John T. White Road in Fort Worth.

White Elementary School opened to students in August 2011. The $11.8 million dollar school was part of the $593.6 million bond package approved by voters in November 2007. It was constructed on approximately 12 acres of undeveloped land just east of Loop 820 and north of Interstate 30, at 7300 John T. The school was intended to serve the growing local community, and relieve overcrowding at nearby schools. White houses eight kindergarten classrooms, six first grade primary classrooms, 16 primary and intermediate classrooms, and two special education classrooms with a design capacity of 650 students. The one-story facility addresses the prominent intersection with a welcoming ‘front porch’ that extends from the main entry and provides a protected gathering space. From this covered entry, the larger scaled public spaces are connected to form a vertical, light-filled lobby that links the Media Center, Cafeteria, Gymnatorium and Administration areas. The facility is sited to front the main street with a linear public facade that faces northward to allow for controlled natural light throughout. A loading dock is located at the southeast corner of the building. The main parking lot is located east of the school building and future expansion is planned west of the school building. The school was designed by Brown Reynolds Watford Architects, built by general contractor Yates/3i Joint Venture, with AECOM serving as Program Manager.

Hello Families!

Please see the Parent Calendars for the first semester attached. You will receive more details regarding each event as the dates get closer, but here are "Save the Dates" so that you are informed as to what is taking place on campus. ***Please note that all dates are subject to change! We will send updated flyers should changes occur.***

Special thanks to Ms. Taquala C. for supporting in making the Red Ribbon Week flyer.

Please reach out if you'd like to help in any way or have ideas. Working together is how we best serve our children. Right now, we do need help planning and organizing Hispanic Heritage Month Activities.

Thank you! :)

¡Hola, familias!

¡Gracias! :)

This week's focus

Character Trait: Perseverance

Boystown/ Social Skill: Asking for help/ Getting the Teacher's Attention

Ask students:
"When is it okay to ask for help?"
Discuss how everyone (including teachers, doctors, athletes, and principals) needs help sometimes.

Introduce the Boys Town skill of Asking for Help/ Getting the Teacher’s Attention.

Teach the steps:
- Look at the teacher.
- Raise your hand and stay calm.
- Wait until the teacher addresses you.
- Ask for help.
