We are proud to congratulate Joe Thayer on being selected as the recipient of Medical City Fort Worth’s inaugural Paramedic of the Year Award.
We also want to thank Medical City Fort Worth for this meaningful recognition during EMS Week. The partnership between our paramedics and the Medical City Emergency Department team is built on trust, teamwork, and a shared mission and this award is a testament to that relationship.
Joe exemplifies the dedication and clinical excellence that our members bring to every call. Fort Worth is better because of the work you do. Congratulations, Joe!

🔥 STORM RESPONSE UPDATE 🔥
Over the last 3 hours, have responded to FIVE separate working structure fires across the city, all storm-related.
Our crews are working hard and remain on scene. Please stay safe, stay indoors, and keep our firefighters in your thoughts as they battle these conditions.

Our firefighters made a very special pit stop today and it wasn’t to put out a fire! They visited the little ones at Happy Heart Academy Inc for a morning full of fun, learning, and a whole lot of excitement.
The kids got an up-close look at the fire engine, tried on some gear, and learned what to do if they ever hear a smoke alarm.
There’s no better time to start learning about fire safety than when you’re small, because big lessons stick with little ones for a lifetime. Watching these future firefighters soak it all in was an absolute highlight of the day.
A huge thank you for having us, and to the kids for reminding us exactly why we love this job.

an attack on a fire station is an attack on all of us. Our hearts go out to every victim of today’s senseless violence, and we’re relieved no firefighters were injured.

AUSTIN FIREFIGHTERS THANK AUSTIN POLICE IN QUICK ARRESTS FOLLOWING SHOOTINGS AT AFD STATIONS AND ACROSS AUSTIN TODAY

The immediate, active threat, to our city has passed. Fire stations have ended their lockdown, the South Austin shelter-in-place was lifted, and two suspects are now in custody. Our thoughts and hearts go out to the victims of today’s senseless violence, to their families, friends, and to all traumatized by the threats of the day.

Austin firefighters join a grateful city in our thanks to our colleagues with Austin Police, Manor Police, Travis County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and every other law enforcement agency that assisted APD in the investigation and arrests.

We encourage our community to always report any suspicious activity, but to also remember that whenever you call, for whatever you need…Austin’s firefighters, police officers, and EMS professionals will be there. The City of Austin tip line remains open to anyone who may have additional information regarding a possible third, yet unconfirmed, subject.
