🔥Wildfire Impacts on Tarrant County🔥

Due to shifting winds from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto County, residents across Tarrant County are seeing an increased haze, smoke, and the smell of smoke this afternoon and evening. These conditions will continue into tomorrow.

Residents with asthma, respiratory conditions, or sensitivity to smoke are encouraged to limit strenuous outdoor activity while smoky conditions persist.

Fire danger remains very high across the region.

🚫A burn ban is currently in effect for unincorporated Tarrant County. 🚫

Please help prevent additional fires by:

* Avoiding outdoor burning.
* Limiting the use of equipment that may produce heat or sparks.
* Never parking or idling vehicles over dry grass.
* Properly disposing of smoking materials.
* Remaining alert for fires that may spread rapidly in dry, windy conditions.

Fire departments throughout Tarrant County may receive an increased number of smoke investigation calls as smoke from the Ross Fire moves through the area.

If you see an organized column of smoke, visible flames, or an active fire, call 911 immediately.

🚫 Burn Ban in Effect 🚫

Tarrant County has issued an Outdoor Burn Ban for all unincorporated areas, effective August 13, 2026.

Outdoor burning is prohibited without approval from the Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office. The ban will remain in effect for 90 days.

Violations may result in a Class C Misdemeanor and a fine up to $500.

🥶🥶🥶Fire Safety Reminder 🥶 🔥🏠

We know when it’s COLD, fireplaces and chimneys get more use—and that’s when preventable fires often happen.

A few key reminders:
• Use only an appropriate amount of wood and never overfill your fireplace
• Never use gasoline or kerosene to start a fire
• Dispose of ashes only after they are completely cool
• Always place ashes in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid
• Keep ash containers at least 10 feet away from structures
• Never use plastic bags, cardboard boxes, or compost piles for ash disposal
