Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off in the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District in Council District 2 with the annual Hispanic Heritage Parade on Sunday! Appreciation to Stockyards Heritage, Old Gr**go Boots, Fort Worth Police Department, Estela Martinez-Stuart, sponsors and the parade participants!

The celebration continued at the La Gran Plaza de Fort Worth in Council District 11 with the Grito led by Consulado General de México en Dallas.

On the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, I attended a ceremony at City Hall with employees and members of the Fort Worth Police Department, Fort Worth Fire Department, EMS, Sheriff’s office, and Marshals.

I also joined the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the NAS JRB Fort Worth Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth. Rear Adm. (Retired) Doug "Woody" Beal was the guest speaker for this year's ceremony. The program included a Flag Presentation, 21-Gun Salute, Moment of Silence, First Responder Tribute, and Dignified Flag Disposal in memoriam of those lost in the terror attacks.

Thanks and appreciation to CAPT Beau Hufstetler, USN Commanding Officer, NAS JRB Fort Worth who will be rotating off as C/O.

On this twenty-five year anniversary of 9/11, remember the nearly 3,000 people who died in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Honor the courage of first responders, including firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and our armed service members who risked or gave their lives that day

9/11 is a reminder to continue supporting the families affected, teach younger generations about the events, and maintain unity in our Nation.

I attended the Fort Worth Next Mission initiative, led by the City of Fort Worth Economic Development Department in partnership with the National Defense Industrial Association – Lone Star Chapter and the Cross Timbers APEX Accelerator. Proud to join and support my city council colleagues Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck US Army veteran and Councilman Charlie Lauersdorf First Sergeant US Marines.

Ashley Farrier, Director of the Office of Small Business Programs at USSOCOM, provided a presentation on how to compete for and bid on USSOCOM federal contracting opportunities.

Appreciate the support of veterans Commissioner Charlie Wright and Joaquim Castillo.

🌺Celebrate Hispanic heritage at City Hall on Sept. 15!

Kick off Hispanic Heritage Month just ahead of the evening City Council meeting. Residents, businesses and community leaders are invited to celebrate the culture and contributions of Fort Worth’s vibrant Hispanic and Latino communities during the event.

📍4-6 p.m. Fort Worth City Hall lobby

Fort Worth City Council will present a proclamation in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month in the Council Chamber.

Note: Limited public parking is available in front of City Hall on Fort Worth Trail and behind City Hall off of Forest Park Boulevard. Additional free overflow parking is available at Panther Island Pavilion lot, 395 Purcey St.
