Behind the Scenes:

There is a tremendous amount of preparation, teamwork, and behind-the-scenes effort that goes into creating an extraordinary experience at the National Law Enforcement and Corporate Crimes Convention.

Our Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT) Board of Directors arrives the weekend before the convention to begin setting up, working alongside an incredible group of partners, volunteers, and supporters who help bring everything together.

One of our biggest tasks? Preparing more than 700 attendee welcome bags! Each bag is carefully assembled with drinks and snacks to help keep our attendees hydrated, energized, and ready to make the most of the convention.

What may seem simple when the doors open represents hours of preparation and the generosity of tremendous partners who believe in and support our mission.

At the same time, our Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT) Merchandise Store is coming to life. Unloading, unpacking, organizing, and displaying hundreds of pieces of merchandise is no small undertaking. It is another important piece of the behind-the-scenes work that happens before our attendees ever walk through the doors.

Meet the Voice Behind Our National Anthem:

We received so many inquiries about the gentleman who sang our National Anthem during the opening ceremonies of the 2026 National Law Enforcement and Corporate Crimes Convention. I’m so glad they asked!

His name is Tyler Pride.

Tyler is the son of the late, great Charley Pride, the legendary country music artist known as the “King of Country Music.” Charley Pride left an unforgettable mark on country music, and after hearing Tyler sing, it’s easy to see that remarkable talent was certainly passed down.

With a voice like Tyler’s, he certainly could have followed in his father’s footsteps and pursued a career in music.

But Tyler Pride chose a different path, A life of service.

Tyler is a veteran of the City of Tyler Police Department, where he has dedicated himself to serving and protecting his community. He also serves as President of the Tyler Patrolman’s Association and as First Vice President of the Texas Municipal Police Association.

His commitment goes far beyond his own department. Tyler has dedicated his life to serving others, advocating for law enforcement professionals, and protecting those who protect our communities.

That’s what made his rendition of our National Anthem during our opening ceremonies so meaningful. We weren’t simply hearing a powerful voice. We were hearing the voice of a man who has chosen a life of service, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment to others.

In Memory of Marx Howell:

A little over two months ago, the Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT) lost a truly great man. He was a beloved friend, longtime instructor, and loyal supporter and attendee of the National Law Enforcement and Corporate Crimes Convention.

The Robbery Investigators of Texas (RIOT) were honored to dedicate the 2026 National Law Enforcement and Corporate Crimes Convention to the memory of Marx Howell.

Marx touched the lives of countless people through his friendship, knowledge, professionalism, and dedication to law enforcement. His presence, wisdom, and fellowship will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

It was our honor to dedicate this year’s convention to his memory and to celebrate the lasting impact he made on our organization and the law enforcement community.

Marx Howell will never be forgotten. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the friendships he made along the way.

Rest in peace, Marx. You will be missed and never forgotten.
