Urban Ministry Associates International Urban Ministry Associates is committed to engaging urban centers for asset based community development, grassroots leadership mobilization and training.

There are many community development organizations in every major metropolitan area in The USA. However, most of them follow the glass half full model, in which they enter communities with “we know what is broken and what you need and we can fix it for you” attitude. The Urban Ministry Associates, however, will enter communities with the premise that every community has the capacity it needs to de

velop itself. The role of the outsider is then to come along side local leaders and bring resources that a community may lack. In a well-developed community, businesses will have a labor force that is well equipped and well prepared to meet their employment needs, Governments will have healthy communities that will be a stronger tax base for further services and growth of their cities and community institutions will have leaders that will help them thrive. These are few of the values that Urban Ministry Associates has to offer and a reason for businesses, government and community partners to invest in it.

Urban ministry is not new to the church. The Pauline missionary journey was primarily to the populations centers. Moreover, the church grew in the culturally and economically neglected or so called "people on the fringes."

The church, at its best, always addresses the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of all people. The assumption here is that "needs have no boundaries;" the wealthy is just as needy as the poor. Thus, the church challenges the wealthy to serve the poor and live humbly and sacrificially. It challenges the poor to faithfully serve and earn their living by their labors. This is rooted in Jesus' command to "love others as yourself."

Urban ministry Associates is committed to the proclamation of the Gospel to all people. It also will intentionally engage the reach and the poor, the church and the business communities so that Jesus will be proclaimed as the Lord of all. As such, we will contribute to the larger mission of the church by all we do and say, while transforming our cities by building people and developing our cities one community at a time.
