Arts Fort Worth thanks everyone for their interest in the newly installed Fort Worth Public Art project along State Highway 121, featuring Corten steel letters that spell out F O R T W O R T H. The Texas wildflower and native grasses that were seeded around the letters are being infiltrated by invasive weeds and are undergoing challenges getting established. The Design Team, Contractor and City Staff are implementing a plan to address the issue throughout the remainder of the year. This being done to make use of the remaining growing season while setting up the prairie-style landscape for success in the spring. Steps are being taken to mitigate the weeds without mowing, as mowing further spreads the weeds.

Once the intended native grasses and wildflowers have been established on the site, the area around and under the artwork will be mowed only once or twice a year, by a City contractor. The goal is a natural looking landscape that references a native prairie in north Texas. The resulting vegetation is intended to conceal the base of the letters and the ground-mounted light fixtures. It may take several growing cycles before the landscape reaches maturity.

Arts Fort Worth is putting on a special ArtSync event dedicated to high school students, featuring a student-centered listening session with Tarrant To & Through (T3). Meet artists, educators, and arts organizations ready to share guidance, resources, and opportunities to discover career paths in the arts!

T3 helps assists in Sophomore, Juniors and Seniors enrolled at a Crowley ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Castleberry ISD, or Lamar High School (AISD).

Congratulations to Milagros Collective on the recent approval of their preliminary design for the new connection along Everman Parkway! Entitled "Passage of Light", the artists’ concept transforms the act of crossing a bridge into an experience of liminal space – a passage between one condition and another.

The design utilizes transitions in reference to sunrise and sunset, positioning the bridge as a space between day and night in consideration of the daily rhythm of departure and return. Further, the multifaceted design reframes a routine crossing as a dynamic and perceptual experience using color on an immersive scale utilizing both the pedestrian bridge walkways and a new roundabout to the west. Milagros Collective is a collective led by co-founders Felici Asteinza and Joey Fillastre. The artists began working in the public art field in 2013 with a commission in their home state of Florida. Since that time, they have completed multiple artworks works in Georgia, Louisiana, and South Carolina. They are the recipient of numerous awards including a Research and Development Grant from the Antenna and Ashe Center and the Hispanic Heritage Artist award from the City of Tallahassee as well as residency sponsorship by the Andy Warhol Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, and the Joan Mitchell Foundation.
