Education is a longtime passion for NTCF fundholders Linda and Dan Dipert. Through their giving, they support organizations that help students build strong futures, including the Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center, a state-of-the-art facility that prepares Arlington ISD students for college and careers.

“Talent is equal, opportunity is not. This center ensures every student has equal access to a clear path to success.” – Dan Dipert

Community development takes time, and its impact isn’t always immediately visible. As part of the BEACON cohort, grantees collaborated on neighborhood-based Early Action Projects alongside organizations serving the same communities. These projects brought neighbors together to have a direct hand in fostering community through activities like gardening, reading, and financial literacy.

North Texas Community Foundation has awarded $304,700 in grants aimed at strengthening the capacity of organizations serving vulnerable populations across Tarrant County.

This funding is part of our ToolBox Grant Cycle, which has now exceeded $4 million in capacity-building support to Tarrant County nonprofits since 2010. By supporting shared solutions and collaboration, ToolBox projects are expected to benefit more than 250 nonprofits and expand access to critical services throughout the community.

Today marked the final meeting of our 2025 BEACON cohort. Over the past year, grantees came together to learn from one another and build lasting relationships. By focusing on capacity beyond funding, the cohort helped strengthen organizations so they can have a deeper impact in the communities they serve.

At our 45th Anniversary Luncheon last month, we honored Michael V. Bourland with NTCF’s Lifetime Achievement Award. As a founding shareholder of Bourland, Wall & Wenzel, P.C., Mike has shaped the region’s philanthropic landscape through decades of leadership in estate planning and community service.

We recently invited Mike to reflect on the values that guide his work and the legacy he hopes to inspire through generosity and purpose. Read the full article featured in Fort Worth Inc.:

This Earth Day, we’re highlighting the impact of the Conservation and Environment Fund at NTCF. With support from the fund, Hill Hollow Ranch, a significant Blackland Prairie property in Ellis County, is now permanently protected through a conservation easement with the Native Prairies Association of Texas.

The Blackland Prairie is one of Texas’s most endangered ecosystems. Once stretching from the Red River to San Antonio, less than 1 percent exists today. What remains provides essential habitat for pollinators, wildlife and migratory birds.

Through the Conservation and Environment Fund, donors help preserve open space and natural resources across our region.

Since its launch in 2024, the Whitley Penn Philanthropic Fund has donated over $150,000 to strengthen Texas communities, from disaster relief in Hill Country to supporting vulnerable youth and families.

The Fund recently supported Day One Bags, which has provided more than 260,000 bags and luggage to foster youth, preserving their dignity during transitions. The Fund also partially supported Day One’s Adopt-A-Senior initiative, which equips 500 seniors aging out of foster care with gifts, supplies, and quilts as they step into their future.
