It's one of the hottest summer's on record, with temperatures lingering in the 100s for what seems like forever! If you know elderly or low-income residents in Tarrant County who are struggling to pay their electric bills, we're again hosting in-person bill-payment assistance by appointment.

Join Keep Fort Worth Beautiful at its annual Neighborhood Litter Stomp 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 17. Registration is now open!

Each fall, residents across Fort Worth make a difference in their community by coming together and removing litter from their neighborhood. Whether it is the sidewalk you stroll every morning, the park where your family spends weekends or the neighborhood roads you drive through weekly, the Neighborhood Litter Stomp offers a simple way to make a visible impact. Volunteers can participate individually or as part of a group — everyone is welcome. Free litter cleanup supplies and event T-shirts are available, while supplies last, so register early!

Most City offices, including City Hall, will be closed 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁. 𝟳, 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆. Emergency services will be available as usual.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀:
Residential collections, including garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulk waste, will operate as usual on Sept. 7. Place your carts on the curb by 7 a.m. on your normal collection day. All Drop-Off Stations and the Environmental Collection Center will be closed on Sept. 7. If you have questions or need assistance, call 817-392-1234.

𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀:
All Fort Worth libraries will be closed Sept. 7; they will reopen at their normal times Sept. 8.

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀:
Community centers, Haws Athletic Center and the Log Cabin Village will be closed Sept. 7. These amenities will be open: golf courses, McLeland Tennis Center, Fort Worth Botanic Garden, Fort Worth Water Gardens, Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge, Marine Park Pool and Forest Park Pool.

Trinity Metro will operate modified services for Labor Day. Trinity Metro buses and Trinity Metro On-Demand paratransit services will operate on Sunday schedules. Trinity Metro TEXRail will operate on its regular schedule. Trinity Metro On-Demand rideshare services will operate on regular schedules. Trinity Railway Express, TRE LINK and CentrePort Circulator will not operate. Representatives will be available at 817-215-8600 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. to assist customers. The kiosk at Fort Worth Central Station will be closed.

Is the Lake Worth Monster real- Is it roaming Fort Worth Neighborhoods?

That question has been buzzing around Fort Worth for more than five decades after sightings that captured the city’s imagination. Now you can see the tale up close without wandering into the woods.

There’s a Lake Worth Monster exhibit in the Fort Worth City Hall lobby, near the council chamber, running through Sept. 9. It’s open during normal City Hall hours and gives you a first-hand look at a legend that’s become part of Fort Worth folklore. This could be the coolest Greatest of All Time (GOAT) city hall exhibit you've seen in a while!

Peak migration season has arrived, and birds are already taking to the skies. Over the next few weeks, millions of birds will traverse Texas as they embark on their journey to the winter.

During their migration, these birds rely heavily on the night sky for navigation. However, artificial light from buildings and homes poses a significant challenge. It disrupts their natural navigation, diverting them from their intended path and increasing the likelihood of collisions with windows and structures.

Fort Worth residents and businesses can help by turning off or reducing unnecessary lights during the fall migration season. These small changes to nighttime lighting can make a difference for birds passing through our community.

Turn off or dim outdoor lights between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.Close blinds or curtains to reduce light shining through windows.Limit landscape lighting that illuminates trees, gardens and other areas where birds may rest.Use timers or motion sensors so outdoor lights are only on when needed.

You don't have to live or work downtown to participate. Reducing unnecessary light at night throughout Fort Worth can help migrating birds stay on course as they make their way through the city.
