Correctional professionals are often the silent heroes of public safety—unseen, unheard, but always present. Whether working inside a correctional facility or serving in the community as parole officers, we dedicate our lives to protecting the public and supporting the successful reintegration of those returning to society. We do this with honor, professionalism, commitment, and integrity.
This week, we join in celebrating National Correctional Officers and Employees Week. Our PD2 team has a full week of activities planned to recognize and appreciate one another and the vital work we do every day.
Established in 1984 when President Ronald Reagan declared the first week of May as National Correctional Officer and Employee Appreciation Week, this observance highlights the essential contributions of those who work behind the scenes to keep our communities safe.
To all correctional staff—thank you for your service, your resilience, and your unwavering dedication.

We are deeply saddened to announce that our friend and former colleague, Vickie Conquest, passed away on Tuesday, March 17th. Throughout her 42-year career with the state, Vickie was a model of public service and a dedicated mentor. Beyond her professional contributions, she remained a mainstay in our community, continuing to join us for lunches and celebrations long after her retirement in 2021. Whether she was engaging in a spirited debate or wielding her signature red pen, Vickie’s impact on this district was unmistakable.

Vickie, you will be fondly remembered and deeply missed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to her family and loved ones.

We are saddened to learn of the passing of our friend and colleague, South Bend Parole District Supervisor Kristine Johnson.

Condolences to her family, friends and our colleagues in PD8. Our thoughts are with you.

We are saddened to report the passing of District Supervisor Kristine Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson worked 23 years of outstanding service for the Indiana Department of Correction. Over the years, she built a legacy in several institutions, including Indiana Girls School, South Bend Juvenile, Indiana State Prison, and most recently, South Bend Parole District.

Her commitment, leadership, and compassion touched the hearts of so many colleagues and people that she worked over. She will be greatly missed and greatly remembered by all who were blessed to work beside her.

Our sympathies are with her family, friends, and the entire IDOC.

After the monthly staff meeting PD2 enjoyed some good food and games and after work several staff went to Fort Wayne Game Show to have some friendly competition. Congrats to Andrea for her team taking first place!

The Week of May 4th - 10th is Correctional Employee Appreciation Week and to say thank you, the Fort Wayne Parole District planned several activities.

Monday - Donuts from the favorite Rise and Roll
Tuesday - Brunch at Cosmos
Wednesday - Ice Cream
Thursday - Northern Parole Region Annual Picnic at Tippecanoe River State Park with IDOC Gary Parole District and IDOC South Bend Parole District
Friday - Fun Day with pizza

We also want to give mention that Yolanda Jones was selected by her peers to be the Fort Wayne District Parole Agent of the year. Congratulations Yolanda!
