The Waynedale 2040 Neighborhood Plan reached a significant milestone last night with approval from Fort Wayne City Council. Once signed by Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker, Waynedale 2040 will be officially adopted and amended into the All In Allen Comprehensive Plan.

The City’s Department of Neighborhoods began working with Waynedale residents, businesses, organizations and stakeholders in the summer of 2024 and gathered input through surveys, focus groups, interactive mapping tools, five neighborhood events and six open houses. That input was used to develop the ten-year plan that outlines strategies for neighborhood-based improvements in several areas, including:

✅ Improving safety and security through Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design projects
✅ Encouraging strategic ways to support and activate the business community
✅ Improving sidewalks and streetlights on several key neighborhood streets
✅ Increasing community awareness and participation in neighborhood activities, events and organizations
✅ Encouraging connectivity and access to community parks
