School may be out for the summer, but that does not mean children are off the roads.

Summer school is still in session, and students will continue to be at bus stops, near schools, and using crosswalks throughout the city. Drivers should stay alert, slow down in school zones, and watch carefully for children walking, biking, or waiting for the bus.

As summer begins, kids will also be outside more often, playing in neighborhoods, riding bikes, crossing streets, and enjoying parks and sidewalks. Please take a few extra seconds to look twice, reduce your speed, and expect the unexpected.
A safe summer starts with all of us.

Slow down. Stay alert. Watch for kids.

🛡️ Fort Wayne Police Department – Online Safety Reminder for Parents & Kids 🛡️

The internet is an incredible resource for learning and connecting—but it can also present risks for our children. FWPD encourages parents and guardians to take a few simple steps to help keep kids safe online:

🔹 Talk Early, Talk Often: Have open conversations about safe internet use, privacy, and appropriate online behavior.
🔹 Know Their Apps: Stay aware of the websites, games, and social platforms your children use.
🔹 Set Boundaries: Use parental controls, set screen time limits, and keep devices in common areas when possible.
🔹 Protect Personal Info: Remind kids never to share their full name, address, school, or photos with strangers online.
🔹 Report Concerns: If you suspect online exploitation or inappropriate contact, report it immediately to FWPD or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).

Together, we can help ensure our children enjoy the digital world safely and responsibly. 💙

🚔 Fort Wayne Police Department Reminder: Don’t Drink and Drive
The Fort Wayne Police Department urges everyone to make responsible choices — never drink and drive. Alcohol impairs judgment, slows reaction time, and puts lives at risk. If you plan to drink, plan a safe ride home first.
Use a designated driver, call a rideshare, or take public transportation — but don’t get behind the wheel. Every decision to drive sober helps keep our community safe.
Drive sober or get pulled over.
Your life — and the lives of others — depend on it.
