Today, we are thankful for the sound-barrier walls around Wildwood Park and the protection of our neighbors in an accident on West Jefferson around 3:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. We are concerned about the people in the accident and thankful that the city's first responders were on the scene so quickly.

Wildwood Park's neighborhood association is on the hunt for old photos of our neighborhood. We are embarking on a unique neighborhood-wide project to delve into the past and preserve the landscape history -- the terrane, the streetscapes, the vegetation. It's a similar approach to documenting the history of our architect-designed homes for the National Register of Historic Places, but this time it's for the landscape architecture.
Do you have old pictures of Wildwood Park? Perhaps you grew up here or visited people who lived here. Perhaps your grandparents lived here and tucked old photos away.

We are interested in any time period, but hope to find the most historic value from those taken from 1916 when Wildwood Builders broke ground to the 1960s, 1970s and even 1980s.
Simply post digital photos below or add the links.
Many thanks from the Wildwood association.

COUNCIL APPROVES $200,000 TO REALIGN PORTAGE-TAYLOR CORNER
City Council approved unanimously on Tuesday nearly $200,000 to realign the intersection of Portage and Taylor and improve safety by functioning as a 90-degree intersection. The goal is to slow speeds and reduce cut-through traffic. The city acquired land from the Masonic Lodge that will provide the space for a 90-degree turn to exit or enter Portage at Taylor. Since 2021, the city’s traffic safety engineer worked closely with the association's Portage Traffic Calming Project team to address the long-standing problem.

This is a victory for the people of Portage and all of Wildwood. Thanks to traffic engineering staff, the Masonic Lodge, the Active Transportation Coalition and Geoff Paddock, our neighbor and City Councilman, for making this reality.
