What a find!

The lure of great coin hoards motivates many treasure hunters. For one man in Kentucky, that dream became reality in 2023 when he found more than 700 gold and silver coins from the 1800s, apparently buried around 1863 during the Civil War. The hoard contained eighteen rare $20 gold Liberty Double Eagle coins, about 600 $1 gold coins, and $10 gold Liberty coins, all ranging in date from 1854 to 1862.

Day 2 with the Equinox. Out for 7 hours today and found a few goodies. Date less SLQ, 44 and 54 dimes, 03 v nickel, 35 buffalo nickel and a 1863 fatty Indian. Also found a Jesuit fur trade era ring which is the best find in my book.

First time out with a new machine. 1864 Fatty Indian, 1887 Indian. 1944 War Nickel and a 1956 Wheat cent. Hopefully more to come as I learn the machine.

Great Turn Out for todays Picnic. Lots of Donations from different companies that support the hobby.

The meeting dates for 2018 are:

The location is the Aboite Township Trustees Community Center at 11321 Aboite Center Rd, Ft.Wayne, IN 46814. All meeting start at 7pm. You do not need to be a member to attend, only an interest in finding out about our club and the metal detecting hobby.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Club picnic on Saturday. It weather and food was great. I hope everyone had a good time and went home with a few goodies. Congratulations to Jon S., he won the Garrett AT pro. Congratulations to Jeff K., he won the 50% Fisher certificate. Thank you to everyone who helped with the event, setup and clean up.
