The Maple Creek Middle School - Robocats Blue Robotics Team was 1 of 90 teams from around the world who were invited to compete in the Western Edge Invitational FIRST Robotics Competition in Long Beach, California.

Carole Moreno, Technology Education Teacher at MCMS shared, “This is the first time that an MCMS robotics team has competed in a competition beyond the state level. They were assigned to work cooperatively with two other teams in an alliance, and together they were presented with a brand-new board with new missions, tasks, and objectives. They had approximately 8 hours of practice, sharing boards with other alliances in which they were required to modify their robot, make new attachments, and write new code to accomplish their missions. Together with the other two teams, they ended up placing first by 35 points! They received a trophy on the international stage for their efforts!”
